Birds, Butterflies, Burning Candles, Insects

I have lived in the same spot not far from Minsmere bird reserve for nearly 30 years. Over that time the increase in common buzzards, red kites and now, sometimes marsh harriers is something to shout about. Having the joy of seeing these wild creatures from my patch, was especially comforting in lockdown: taking me on imagined aerial adventures far away. The images are, as always, my sense of these creatures not accurate illustrations.

My own medieval songster.

A pigeon on the walnut waits for a mate.

The blackbird would prefer me to stop staring.

My first ever siting of a Suffolk kingfisher on the Old Minsmere river, so why not in red!

The tawnies live around me. All that hooting.

Buzzards. So many more now.
